Kris Drever

One of Orkney’s most prolific musical sons, Kris Drever’s voice and guitar now form a part of the backbone of today’s contemporary roots and folk scene. Hugely admired as a solo artist, collaborator, and member of folk superstars Lau, he is a phenomenal and prolific artist.

Indeed to simply call Drever ‘a folk singer’ would be like saying that Lau is ‘a Scottish folk trio’ - both true descriptions, but reductive ones that only hint at the progressive joys contained in the music of each.

Sought-after amongst his contemporaries, Drever has already worked with the likes of Jack Bruce, Bela Fleck, Tinariwen, Jerry Douglas, Danny Thompson, Tim O’Brien, Sarah Jarosz, Phil Cunningham, Rosanne Cash, Roddy Woomble, Eddi Reader, Kate Rusby and many more.

Having released three heralded solo albums - Black Water, Mark the Hard Earth, and 2016’s If Wishes Were Horses - Kris Drever returns to the Orkney Folk Festival in celebration of his first decade as an acclaimed solo artist and songwriter.

"Kris Drever is a serious talent."
