Hadhirgaan

A rolling army of dedicated youngsters, Hadhirgaan are a group of young musicians from Kirkwall Grammar School led by instrumental instructor/Field Marshall, Douglas Montgomery (The Chair, Saltfishforty). The group, whose members range in age from 12 to 18, play modern and traditional tunes, as well as a number of their own compositions.

The first incarnation of Hadhirgaan made an appearance at the Orkney Folk Festival nearly two decades ago and, since then, the group has released three CDs and a DVD, and have toured Canada twice, as well as numerous trips to the Scottish mainland. A fantastic flock of fiddlers backed by a solid rhythm section, the group never cease to amaze with their own, unique gutsy sound.
