Eddi Reader

One of Scotland’s most prolific and instantly recognisable voices, Eddi Reader needs little introduction, and is making a very welcome return to the Orkney Folk Festival following her stunning debut performances in the isles just five years ago, in 2012.

From topping the chats with Fairground Attraction in the 1980s - whose debut single, Perfect, and its parent album, First of a Million Kisses, both topped the UK charts - and winning three BRIT Awards, to her heralded reworking of the songs of Robert Burns and subsequent solo albums, hers is a career like no other.

Her most recent releases - Vagabond, released in 2014, and 2016's double disc 'Best Of' compilation, spanning her 30 year career - have both attracted widespread critical acclaim, as do her live shows. From the traditional to the contemporary, Eddi brings joyous life to all forms of song. Her rare blend of meltingly true vocals and towering romanticism combine with an astute and pragmatic nature to make her a unique and powerful figure in contemporary British music.

"Eddi Reader is one of my favourite singers of all time."
Jools Holland
