As part of the Highland Year of Culture 2007, the Orkney Folk Festival
is adding it's weight to the celebrations by holding a series of concerts,
ceilidhs or dances throughout the islands of Eday, Hoy, North Ronaldsay,
Sanday, Shapinsay, Flotta, Wyre and Papa Westray.
This provides a unique opportunity for the local residents of these islands
to have a folk festival event on their doorstep. In addition to the evening
events, the visiting artists will be making some visits to the schools.
The programme will provide an interesting mix of visiting and local artists,
a variety of musical styles, instrumentalists and singers ensureing that
there will be something for everyone.
Also, dont forget that you don't have to go to the isles to enjoy that special
country atmosphere. There will be Folk Festival events at Harray, Holm,
Orphir, St Margaret's Hope and Kirkwall.

Councils and Community Associations of all the islands involved. We also
hope to encourage visitors to use these events as an opportunity to broaden
their horizons and enjoy the island experience.
Orkney Ferries are providing the Coast to Coast and Island Explorer packages
offering discounted fares, which are ideal for "island hopping".

At each island will be Fridarey, Angus Lyon and
Ruaridh Campbell. Martin Curtis will be taking the helm from Monday to Saturday
