A Tribute to Dr. John Rae - SOLD OUT
12noon – Stromness Hotel, Stromness
Arguably Orkney’s greatest unsung hero, Dr. John Rae was born 200 years ago in Orphir. A surgical doctor and Arctic Explorer, he surveyed the final section of the Northwest Passage, and reported the outcome of the ill-fated Franklin expedition. However, these findings were condemned at the time, and so Rae’s discoveries were not given the attention they deserved. In commemoration, we have curated a musical life story.
