Basco
Through their defining, no-holds-barred spin on Scandinavian folk music, Basco create an all-consuming musical maelstrom that has generated an irresistibly energetic new force, yet all the while retains each of the four instrumentalist’s dexterous musicality.
Underpinning the group’s unique sound is a repertoire of chiefly self-penned material that draws inspiration not only from its members’ own regional idioms, but also those of England, Scotland, Ireland and North America. This paired with a quartet of Denmark and Sweden’s most premier league musicians – Hal Parfitt Murray (vocals, violin, viola), Andreas Tophøj (violin, viola), Ale Carr (cittern) and Anders Ringaard (accordion and trombone) – creates a new musical landscape urging to be explored.
